In December 2013 I had an epigastric hernia repair. Although I have had previous operations this was my first time at Nuffield Hospital under the care of Dr Robertson. I can only say positive things about my experience. At all times I was treated with the utmost courtesy and everything was explained clearly and in a manner that was both comforting and reassuring. I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Robertson and the Nuffield Hospital. Three weeks on my scar is healing and I am back attending most of my fitness classes. Thank you.

I attended the Spire Hospital to undergo removal of Gallbladder by Dr Gavin Robertson.
Dr Gavin Robertson was very professional and took time to clearly explain the procedure in detail. This promoted a feeling of trust and that I was in safe hands. Procedure all went well as planned with no post operation problems.

I have just had an umbilical hernia repair and not having had any operation before, I was very apprehensive. However, from the first appointment, through to the operation and aftercare, I couldn't have wished for better care. Everything was explained to me in detail, before the procedure and also the visit by Mr Robertson immediately I came round from the anaesthetic followed by his visit the next day before I went home. I am very pleased that I now have a normal tummy button and the only scaring is within this. I can now get back to all the normal activities. I never experienced any of the pain that was predicted and virtually no bruising.

I had a double hernia repair at the Nuffield Hospital in September 2013. From the moment of the first consultation with Mr Robertson through to the aftercare follow-up, I was totally confident in every respect. He explained the procedure thoroughly along with the expected outcome. I was back in the gym after 2 weeks and 6 weeks on I am, as promised, stronger than before. Not a hint of a twinge or any visible scarring!!

Gavin Robertson is a Consultant Surgeon in Leicester specialising in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, especially surgery for gallstones having performed more than 4500, with no bile duct injuries and hernias;- inguinal, incisional, umbilical and ventral (more than 5000), He is an expert in the investigation and treatment of abdominal pain and the management of liver and pancreas cancers.
He qualified in 1984 in Leicester, trained in centres across the world before becoming a Consultant in 1999. He has specialised in laparoscopic surgery for over 20 years.
